Education Secretary Justine Greening has held onto her seat in Putney with 44.1 per cent of the vote.
In the 2015 General Election she was elected with a 10,000 strong majority. This time around she was ahead by 1,554, a loss of 9.7 per cent.
Labour candidate Neeraj Patil came in second with 40.8 per cent of the vote and a gain of 10.8 per cent. Lib Dem Ryan Mercer got 11.6 per cent of the vote, followed by the Green Party’s Ben Fletcher on 11.6 per cent, UKIP’s Patricia Ward on 1 per cent and Independent Lotta Quizeen on 0.1 per cent.
Putney is in the historically Conservative borough of Wandsworth, along with Battersea, and Tooting, which Labour’s Rosena Allin-Khan won earlier with a resounding victory over the other cadidates.
