Conservatives win Middlesbrough South & Cleveland East

The Conservatives have won Middlesborough South & Cleveland East from Labour.

Simon Clarke won 23,643 votes, increasing his party’s share by 12.6 per cent.

The seat was only contested by three candidates. Labour came second with candidate Tracy Harvey winning 22,623 votes, with Liberal Democrat Chris Foote-Wood third winning only 1,354.

UKIP did not field a candidate and it appears as if the 6,935 votes from the 2015 election may have gone to the Conservatives.
