Labour have won back the Vale of Clwyd in a tense battle that appears to confirm the resurgence of Labour in Wales, as predicted by the pre-election YouGov poll.
Chris Ruane, the Labour candidate beat Conservative incumbent James Davies by 2,379 votes. Ruane lost the 2015 election against the same opponent by 237 votes but increased his share of the vote by 11.9 per cent this time. The Conservatives increased their share of the vote by five per cent. Plaid Cymru came third with 2,379 votes, a lose of three per cent.
In neighbouring constituency Clwyd South, Labour candidate Susan Elan Jones easily held onto her seat.
